QuizAI A complete quiz from a topic, with the AI you choose.
Type a topic, pick how many questions, the difficulty mix, the question types and the grade level. QuizAI asks the model, validates every question, saves them to the question bank and builds the quiz — ready to review and publish.
How it works
Add the activity
In your course, add a QuizAI activity. Only teachers with the generate capability can spend API credits.
Describe the quiz
Topic, number of questions, difficulty mix (e.g. 30 % easy / 50 % medium / 20 % hard), question types, grade level, feedback depth, extra instructions.
Review
Every question is previewed. Regenerate the ones you do not like, one by one.
Publish
Questions go to the course question bank under a QuizAI category and the quiz is created in the same section.
What you get
Eight question types
Multiple choice, true/false, short answer, numerical, essay, matching, description and cloze.
Six providers, sixteen models
Anthropic Claude, OpenAI ChatGPT, DeepSeek, Alibaba Qwen, Zhipu GLM and Moonshot Kimi — plus a manual override for any new model. One API key per provider.
Pedagogical controls
Grade level, difficulty mix, feedback per answer (brief or detailed), course intro as context, custom instructions.
Cost under control
Every call is logged with token usage and estimated cost per model; admins set a maximum of questions per request.
Built for institutions
Capabilities, operation log, web services for integrations, backup & restore, Privacy API (GDPR export and delete).
Open source
GPLv3. Read it, audit it, improve it. Nothing is sent to ABAKU — your server talks to the provider you configured.
Install in three steps
- Site administration → Plugins → Install plugins → upload the ZIP (or unzip into mod/quizai; Moodle 5: public/mod/quizai).
- Site administration → Notifications to finish the installation.
- Site administration → Plugins → Activity modules → QuizAI: pick a model, paste the provider API key, click "Validate API key".
Privacy
QuizAI stores an operation log and the generated questions per user, both covered by Moodle's Privacy API. To generate questions it sends the topic and instructions typed by the teacher to the AI provider you configured; no Moodle user identifiers are sent. Review that provider's data policy before enabling it.
Requirements
Moodle 4.5 to 5.2, PHP 8.1+, and an API key from at least one supported provider. API usage is billed by the provider, not by ABAKU.
Need help setting it up — or a Moodle that just works?
ABAKU runs managed Moodle for schools, connected to its school management system. The plugin is free either way.
